On Tuesday I saw it on BluRay disc and I was a little disappointed. After all of the hype.... another zombie movie. A different spin on it, I'll give it that. The effects were great. Making New York look like a ghost city, that was eerie and great at the same time. The zombies looked really good. I'm more of a plot person though. Plot-wise, it was a good attempt at making a zombie movie more realistic than it's predecessors. The writers managed to get the horror, action, suspense, drama, and comedy across wonderfully. Will Smith did a great job portraying a man who has been alone for so long, he eventually believes he is the only person left. I also liked how the writers put little things in the movie to show the effects of long-term loneliness.
I hated the ending!
The big "seller" about the DVD is the "alternate ending". What's with Hollywood; the loose ends, and alternate endings? Everyone has Sopranos fever. Hey let's make the ending ambiguous.... let the audience interpret what happens... Ugh...
Why did they make two endings? To make it controversial. The DVD cover says that the alternate ending/version is controversial. The only thing controversial is that both endings suck, that if combined, would make one complete ending, and would make the entire movie great.
